Ms. Kristine Romano

Kristine is a partner at McKinsey & Company, and is the Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company in the Philippines. With more than a decade of experience at McKinsey, she has worked with major private and public-sector organizations across key sectors, including financial services, healthcare, education, infrastructure, transportation, and consumer goods. She brings particular expertise in large-scale transformation and delivery programs.

Kristine is passionate about economic development. Her recent paper, “Sustaining and accelerating the Philippines’ growth”, identifies five themes that could help to maintain the country’s upward growth trajectory. Her client work includes developing a 10-year blueprint to transform the Ministry of Finance in an Asian country, helping shape the long-term strategy for an infrastructure fund, and supporting a Southeast Asian government in shaping an economic-stimulus package.

Kristine’s work with private-sector clients includes helping a leading financial-services firm in the Philippines shape its retail and commercial growth strategy. She has also developed a Philippines market-entry strategy for a multinational consumer-goods company, and a growth strategy for a global pharmaceutical firm in the Philippines.

When Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit the Philippines in November 2013, Kristine led McKinsey’s work to support government agencies, NGOs, and private firms in their disaster-relief and recovery activities. She has also worked with an Asian Ministry of Education to design and help deliver priority initiatives to transform the education system, including a coaching program for underperforming school teachers.

Kristine holds an MPA in International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a BS, Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines.
